HE DID NOT JUST FINISH THE WORK — HE FINISHED IT PERFECTLY

HE DID NOT JUST FINISH THE WORK — HE FINISHED IT PERFECTLY
Hebrews 5:9

There is something powerful about the finished work of Jesus Christ. The Bible did not merely say Jesus started the assignment, struggled through it, or attempted it. It says He completed it perfectly.

The New International Version says:
“And, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him.”

The Simple English Version says:
“And after Jesus completed His work perfectly, He became the source of eternal salvation for everyone who obeys Him.”

Even the Pidgin Version captures it clearly:

“And as Jesus don complete wetin God send am come do, e come become the person wey dey give everlasting salvation to everybody wey obey am.”

Jesus did not leave the work half done. He fulfilled every assignment the Father gave Him. He carried the cross completely. He paid the price fully. He conquered sin, death, shame, and condemnation totally.
When Jesus cried, “It is finished,” He was not speaking of defeat. He was announcing completion.

The sacrifice was accepted. Redemption was secured. Salvation was made available.
Many people today are still trying to save themselves through works, religion, human effort, or self-righteousness. But salvation is not produced by human perfection. It came through the perfect work of Jesus Christ.

The beautiful part of Hebrews 5:9 is that Jesus became “the source of eternal salvation.” This means salvation begins with Him, flows through Him, and is sustained by Him. Outside Christ, there is no eternal life. In Him, there is complete redemption.

However, the scripture also says this salvation belongs “to all who obey Him.” True faith produces obedience. To obey Jesus means to believe Him, follow Him, surrender to Him, and live according to His Word.
Jesus finished the work perfectly so that we can live victoriously. His perfection covered our imperfection. His obedience brought us access to grace. His sacrifice brought us eternal hope.

As believers, we must stop living as though the work is incomplete. The cross settled it. The blood sealed it. Salvation is available. Grace is available. Mercy is available.

The question now is: Have you obeyed Him?
May we never take the finished work of Christ for granted. May we walk daily in the power, confidence, and assurance of the salvation Jesus completed perfectly for us.

Prayer
Lord Jesus, thank You for completing the work of salvation perfectly. Help me to obey You wholeheartedly and to live daily in the power of Your finished work. Amen.
