💬 A Little Counsel — For Now or For Later
A day will come when you’ll want to walk away from your church.
You’ll feel tired… unappreciated… misunderstood… maybe even offended.
When that day comes, please make sure your decision is not driven by anger or by people.
The truth is, most times when we walk away from church, it is not for God and not by God.
It’s usually for self — for pride, for recognition, or to prove a point.
And when we walk away that way, we try to stay relevant — posting Scriptures, attending online services, or doing “church” elsewhere —
just to show that we are still believers.
But deep down, it’s not about God. It’s about hurt… about ego… about trying to be seen.
So before you take that step, pause and ask yourself:
👉 Is it really God leading me away?
Or is it my pain, my pride, or my disappointment pushing me out?
Because when it’s not God, even a right decision can become a wrong move.
🙏 My Story
Years ago, as a Parish Pastor in RCCG, a letter came.
A query letter for non-performance.
Non-performance? For a work we were not paid for?
Non-performance? For a job we ran without funds, with personal sacrifice, late nights, and tears?
I felt hurt. Deeply.
That Sunday, I made up my mind to leave.
I knew other Pastors who had already turned in their resignation letters.
I was ready to join them.
As we drove home after service, my wife asked quietly,
> “Where will we start worshipping now?”
Without thinking, I said,
> “Daystar.”
And then, God spoke to my heart:
> “Is that your new church?
Hope you won’t get offended there too?
Hope you won’t get angry someday and leave again?
Go back to your church and continue doing what you’ve been doing — and even more.”
That moment broke me.
And healed me.
I went back — not for men, not to prove anything —
but for God.
That’s why today, I’m still standing for God and with God.
🌿 Final Word
Sometimes, God tests your loyalty not by how you serve when things are easy,
but by how you stay when things are hard.
Walking away is easy.
Staying through pain is a mark of maturity and calling.
> “Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.” — Psalm 92:13
Don’t walk away from where God planted you just because it got uncomfortable.
Even when the soil feels dry — God can still make you flourish there.
Stay where God placed you.
Serve with love.
Forgive quickly.
And keep standing — for God and with God. 💚
